The vic bay webcam is a greedy exploitation of a once beautiful, quiet bay! Just for the full pocket of a few, the whole local surfing crowd has been upset. Our one place to get out of the world has now been exposed to the world and has become a circus of out of town kook surfers who have severely negatively affected the quality of life of many local surfers who have been riding the wave for more than 40 years! Justin, Rod... You are all going to stand before God one day and you will have to make account for this abominable creation that has brought the world into the water upsetting everyone's peace. I pray that God has mercy on you that day in the not so distant future...

Welcome reallocal and thank you for airing your views publicly instead of just emailing Rod all the time ?
You never seem to reveal your name and always hide behind an alias , my intention back in 2003 when I approached Rod about installing a webcam was never to never to make the surf over crowded, but to promote tourism to Vicbay area, as we all need to survive in this difficult economic climate and more so on the Garden Route.
So you support localism where Vicbay is the domain of local surfers only and that means you must be a resident of the George area for a couple of years to qualify as a local to surf at Vicbay. So if I move in from Cape Town and resident in George/Wilderness area that qualifies me as a local.
Cheers Justin Miles

You would THINK that you are local... BAD IDEA exposing this place. I have grown up here and thanks to guys like you and Rod this whole area has gone to a ball of dung. Just so that a few can filler their koffers with mammon. Rod doesn't need any more money. He's a millionaire already. But enough is never enough hey! "The Love of money is truly the root of all evil" Repent and be saved!

reallocal, surely your business depends on locals and visitors to the area, I see you are a religious man too, thanks for your comments.

reallocal ur comments just a leetle bit hectic. the moment u bring religious judgement on others you make yourself a fool because we are all sinners. i have to agree with you though. enough is enough, vic bay is super crowded on the best of days and theres nothing better than having the feeling its cooking without knowing that 1000 other guys KNOW its cooking while they're sitting on their asses in front of their pc.

To those threatening damnation are you okay, sounds a little cuckoo to me. There are bigger issues than your peace on the wave, maybe visit the aids hospital and check out the kids without parents...take one in and recharge your energies somewhere useful.

I'm not a Vicbay local however from Mbay (Best surf spots in the Garden route). I saw this article and that's typically why I never surf Vbay. I've been there a few times but never went out. Seems some (NOT ALL) locals thinks they own the spot? We have a couple of really nice spots down our way and I assure you that we don't behave like the person ''real local''! I cannot understand why ''real local'' cannot identify himself and why he had to bring forward Religious issues? Hey man, Wake up! God gave the sea to all of us..Not just for You...Sure I'll have Vbay enemies after this mail however I don't care as the sea have more than enough great surf spots. Thks for the Surfcams - I think it's Great.

crowded surf. the cam has def contributed to the surf becoming more crowded. but is not solely the cam's fault. for some reason all the KOOKs in cape town seem to think the grass is greener on the otherside, the otherside being the SC and EC. CT and the surrounding areas have cooking waves, but the kooks keep coming this way. can someone pls explain this to me?

wow you guys sure dont seem to like the ct ous, even though its a good few hours away, im sure the surfers from ct dont wake up check the cam and decide to drive all the way from ct for a surf, bit far i think. some of us from ct have farms in the area and spend a few months of the year in the vic bay area, dont need no webcam to know what conditions are like, just stick the old head out the window check the wind and make a decision from there. the crowd factor from the local area is more of a problem, stop whinning about the ous from ct, the biggest crowd comes from george. i doubt if the web cam makes it more crowded, got to face it, there are more people surfing now days, there are plenty of cooking waves with no one on it in the area, go forth and searchhotsteppa wrote: crowded surf. the cam has def contributed to the surf becoming more crowded. but is not solely the cam's fault. for some reason all the KOOKs in cape town seem to think the grass is greener on the otherside, the otherside being the SC and EC. fair comment craig. i have no problem with your secnario. however, i am refering to the CT grom squads, boland boogie board crews in minivan louded with 12 oaks who pitch up and turn any break into a instant nightmare. i stay away from vic on the weekends for this reason.
you nailed it on the head with your keep searching comment. that is what i don't get about CT surfers (not all of them). i was a student in that area and scored great waves consistently. never needed to mission 300km to surf perfection, there is uncrowded goodness around the corner. but imo the oaks from CT are chassing some perfection that they saw on a movie or mag, and rate it is only obtainable on the East coast. plus, the groms vibes are poor, mad snaking ect.... anyhoo, i dont understand why anyone would drive 300km knowing that its going to be crowded on the other end, that goes against my idea of surfing.
